Metatarsalgia

It is a general term to describe the condition in which there is pain in the area of the metatarsals (the ball of the foot). Such pain can be due to various factors such as increased body weight, high-heeled shoes, intense training / running, or some deformities in the foot. In order to properly treat metatarsalgia, a valid etiology is necessary.

Morton’s Neuroma

It is a thickening of the tissue that surrounds the sensory nerve that ends in the toe, and occurs between the 3rd and 4th metatarsals. The pain occurs mainly when the person wears tight shoes and generally when the area of the metatarsals is pressed / tightened. The pain can be acute and usually causes burning or numbness in the 3rd or 4th toe. Conservative treatment tends to be effective enough to often avoid surgery.

Heel Spur

It is a bony growth in the heel that is responsible for severe pain when standing or walking. Such a condition is clearly recognized on an x-ray, but it is only treated if painful.

Plantar Fasciitis

It is the inflammation of the plantar fascia, which starts from the area of the heel and continues to the area of the foot arch. Such inflammation is more common in women than men, and can usually be caused by strain, weight gain, flat feet or high arched-feet as well as tight calf muscles. The pain that occurs is very intense during walking and can change the quality of life of the person, so it should be treated.
