Hallux Valgus / Bunion
It is the deformity that the big toe deviates towards the second toe (outwards) while the first metatarsal head appears swollen or “bony”. There is an inherited predisposition to this deformity but inappropriate, tight shoes deteriorate the problem. This condition should be managed when painful but also personalized advised should be seeked for preventative measures.
It is called the condition in which the arch of the foot is significantly reduced or even absent. The arch of the foot develops from the time a child begins to walk and is usually completed by the age of 8 years.
The pressures on the soles of the feet when the arch of the foot is reduced are different from those of a normal foot. Many times flat feet remain asymptomatic but others can cause pain when walking on the feet, knees and even hips.
